We would like to remind our clients that by Mozambican law (Ministerial diploma no. 95/92 of July 1) fire extinguishers must be pressure tested at least every five years. With a hydrostatic test pump de extinguisher is pressurized with the test pressure of 2000 kPA or more for 60 seconds.
This test serves to verify that the cylinder is still in good condition. As you may know, gas is stored under pressure in the cylinder of the fire extinguisher. For example, dry chemical powder (DCP) extinguishers are typically charged at 1400kPa. Therefore, it is important to ensure that the cylinder continues to be able to withstand such pressure. If you are not sure if your extinguishers are due for pressure testing then please contact us to determine the exact date.
